Start with the person
We begin by listening to what is happening and understanding how it is affecting your everyday life.
Therapy and Rehab is an Advanced Rehabilitation Centre focused on helping people understand changes in physical ability, regain or maintain function, and participate in the things that matter to them.
A diagnosis may describe a problem. Rehabilitation helps us understand what that problem means for you — your abilities, your circumstances, your priorities and the life you want to lead.
We begin by listening to what is happening and understanding how it is affecting your everyday life.
Rehabilitation is shaped around the abilities, activities and goals that are important to you.
The aim is not simply to complete treatment. It is to help you use what you develop in real life.
We do not assume that every person needs the same treatment. Assessment helps us explore what is happening, what you are finding difficult, what you can currently do and what you want to achieve.
From there, we can work together to identify appropriate options. Sometimes that means physiotherapy or exercise rehabilitation. Sometimes it means education, preparation, adaptation, another intervention, or an appropriate onward pathway.
Each stage helps build a clearer picture of where you are now and what may help you move forward.
Depending on the person and situation, rehabilitation may include assessment, treatment, exercise, education, functional development, preparation for or recovery after surgery, return to work or activity, adaptation and appropriate onward referral.
Start with the person. Understand the situation. Work towards what matters.
Help people make sense of their situation and possibilities.
Develop abilities and capacity where this is possible.
Connect rehabilitation with everyday life and meaningful activity.
Support people to take an active role in decisions about their rehabilitation.
Good rehabilitation is something we work on together. Our role is to bring clinical knowledge, assessment and rehabilitation expertise; your role is to bring your experience, priorities, circumstances and goals.
Physical Ability → Function → Independence → Participation
Rehabilitation ultimately connects what your body can do with what you need and want to do in real life.
You may know that something has changed, that movement has become harder, or that you want to get back to something important. You do not have to arrive with the right label or treatment already decided.
Tell us what is happening, what you are finding difficult, or what you would like to achieve.
